Humanities

Professors speak at event at the Institute for the Humanities

The humanities touch all aspects of society - from past events and achievements to human behavior and relationships between groups. Students cultivate skills in researching, reading, writing, and critical thinking to address complex and abstract problems. Current humanities courses include Latin American music,  media and professional writing, military history,  languages of the world, African American literature, and medical ethics. LAS students can also enroll in the Newberry Library Undergraduate Seminar and conduct semester-long humanities research in the Newberry’s core collections.
