About

Brad Mueller is the Senior Pre-Law Advisor at UIC. Prior to coming to UIC in 2016, Brad worked as an attorney in Chicago for over 25 years in the areas of health care law, adult guardianships, and minors’ estates. He also served as Assistant Director of Development for the American Library Association. Brad was born and raised in Wisconsin and earned his B.A. in Criminal Justice, as a first-generation college student, from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Brad earned his Juris Doctorate from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago (now UIC School of Law). As UIC's Senior Pre-Law Advisor, Brad very much enjoys working with UIC’s diverse student community to help guide students and alumni through the big and often complicated decision of whether to attend law school - and then helping students navigate the application process. Brad was a 2019 winner of the UIC Provost’s Excellence in Undergraduate Advising Award. In 2023, Brad was one of 12 pre-law advisors selected to serve on the Law School Admission Council’s (LSAC) inaugural national Prelaw Advisory Council (through at least 2025). Since 2022, Brad has been an instructor and mentor in DePaul University College of Law’s First Generation in Law Scholars Program (FGLP), spending summers working with first generation pre-law undergrads from Chicago area universities. Brad and his wife have two young adult sons, a granddaughter, and a pittie-mix “lapdog”. Away from UIC, Brad enjoys fishing, hiking, traveling, cooking, and writing. Brad’s poems have been published in various literary journals.
