About
Ahyen Labanan is an academic advisor for UIC’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and has been in this role since June 2023. Her goal is to assist and empower students on their academic and personal growth journey. Ahyen received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Southeast Asian studies minor and Master of Science in Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Northern Illinois University. At NIU, she received the U.S. Department of Education’s Foreign Language and Area Studies Undergraduate Fellowship twice for Tagalog. She speaks Tagalog at an advanced level and has experience in news reporting, academic advising and fraternity and sorority advising. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with loved ones, going to concerts and journaling.
