About
Nick Gatz joined LAS in June 2024 after previously working as a college counselor and Spanish teacher. Nick is an AmeriCorps alum and passionate about community service and building community. Prior to receiving his M.Ed in Education at DePaul University, Nick attended the University of Texas at Austin and received a BA in Psychology and Spanish. He grew up between California and Texas, although Chicago is now his adopted home and favorite place in the world. Nick comes from a bilingual/bicultural background y habla español. He was a first-gen college student, and he loves planning trips to new places, checking out cafes around the city (with a book in tow), and all things outdoorsy.
Nick's advising philosophy is holistic - he strives to help students feel connected to campus, connected to their goals, and supported in achieving their dreams.
