The Chicago Tribune Published Political Science Professor Dick Simpson’s Op-Ed on Four Significant Voting Blocs Emergence since Mayor Lightfoot Took Office

The Chicago Tribune published an op-ed from Dick Simpson, UIC professor of political science, who writes that since Mayor Lori Lightfoot took office last year four significant voting blocs within the City Council have emerged, and while there is a strong mayor in charge the council is willing to provide checks and balances. “For Chicago, this is a new experience. As I often joke, if democracy is the best system, maybe we ought to try it in Chicago. For that matter, maybe we should try it nationally,” he said.
