Sociology Professor Rachel Gordon’s Research on Academic Anxiety was Featured on the Chicago Tribune 

Research from UIC’s Rachel Gordon, professor of sociology, fellow of the Institute for Health Research and Policy, and senior scholar of the Institute of Government and Public Affairs, is featured in the Chicago Tribune. The article focused on one finding, from a recently published Journal of Adolescent Research study, that adolescents today experience an increased level of academic anxiety when compared to previous generations. “Participants identified academic anxiety in more specific terms, even suggesting that students in the ‘brain’ peer crowd were less mentally healthy, due to a fear of upsetting their parents,” Gordon said.
