Ronak Kapadia’s Book Wins the 2020 Surveillance Studies Network Book Prize

The 2020 Surveillance Studies Network (SSN) Book Prize Committee chose Ronak Kapadia’s book, Insurgent Aesthetics: Security and the Queer Life of the Forever War, for the 2020 SSN Book Prize. The committee found the book to be theoretically sophisticated, empirically rich, and a significant contribution to advancing the field of surveillance studies. The Award includes £100 and a 1-year membership for the Surveillance Studies Network, which provides benefits including discounts on all SSN-sponsored conferences and events. Kapadia’s book will also be honored at the next SSN conference; pending decisions on if/how that event will occur.
