Multiple News Outlets Reported UIC Anthropology Graduate Student and Field Museum Archaeologists Research on “X-ray gun”
Live Science, CNN.com, NOVA Now, and The Daily Mail are among the media outlets to report on research from UIC anthropology graduate student Wenpeng Xu and Field Museum archaeologists. The study, which was led by Xu and published in Journal of Archaeological Science, finds that a portable X-ray fluorescence analyzer, which looks like an “X-ray gun,” made it possible to identify the origins of Chinese porcelains recovered from a 12th-century shipwreck and provide insight into the size and complexity of the era’s socioeconomic networks.
