LAS Distinguished Professor Luis Urrea’s Literary Works Draw Media Spotlight

Luis Alberto Urrea, UIC professor of English and LAS distinguished professor, was interviewed during NPR's "Weekend Edition Saturday" with Scott Simon. Urrea discussed his new book “The House of Broken Angels” and the novel's themes of life, death and mortality. http://n.pr/2Fe1hRt. An essay he wrote about his brother, who inspired the book, was published by The Millions, an online literary magazine.

Urrea is also quoted in an article from The Beacon-News (Aurora, Illinois), which features an East Aurora High School literature class year–long project focused on "The Devil's Highway," his Pulitzer Prize finalist book detailing the 2001 attempt of 26 men to cross the Mexican border into the desert of southern Arizona. He says it’s "gratifying to know kids all over the country are learning about people often misrepresented."
