An essay he wrote about his brother, who inspired the book, was published by The Millions, an online literary magazine.

Urrea is also quoted in an article from The Beacon-News (Aurora, Illinois), which features an East Aurora High School literature class year–long project focused on "The Devil's Highway," his Pulitzer Prize finalist book detailing the 2001 attempt of 26 men to cross the Mexican border into the desert of southern Arizona. He says it’s "gratifying to know kids all over the country are learning about people often misrepresented."

The New York Times' Sunday Review features an opinion column from Urrea titled "Looking at Trump's 'Beautiful Wall.'" http://nyti.ms/2FaNPOh
