Breakthroughs in Battery Life by Physics Professor Crabtree Featured in Sierra Magazine
Research and work conducted by George Crabtree, distinguished professor in the department of physics, is profiled in an article in the July/August 2014 issue of Sierra Magazine. The article details the work Professor Crabtree and his team are doing to fulfill the 5-5-5 mission, of "developing batteries with five times the performance of today’s batteries at a fifth of today’s cost within five years."
The effort, named the Joint Center for Energy Storage Research (JCER), combines the work of 14 research universities and is based at the U. S. Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory. Professor Crabtree also serves as Senior Scientist, Distinguished Fellow and Associate Division Director in the Materials Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory.
The magazine is available on newsstands now.
