Beth Richie Moderates Segment at Panel Held at Wake Forest University

Beth Richie, LAS professor in the Criminal Justice and Gender and Women’s Studies departments, was quoted in a November 19, 2015 Indian Country Today Media Network article entitled “White House Focuses on Women and Girls of Color at Wake Forest University.” The article discusses a recent day-long national forum held at Wake Forest, called “Advancing Equity for Women and Girls of Color,” of which Richie was a part, serving as a moderator for a segment titled “When Violence Strikes.” The article notes:

“ ‘Girls and women and color face persistent and profound violence that is both institutional and interpersonal,’ said segment Moderator Beth Richie of the University of Illinois at Chicago. ‘Violence provides a lens through which to talk about broader categories of inequality and injustice.’ ”
