Assistant Professor Kim Van Meter Published in Nature

Assistant Professor Kim Van Meter just received formal acceptance of a paper in the journal Nature, on which she is co-first author.  The title is “Maximizing U.S. nitrate removal through wetland protection and restoration".

Here is her description of the paper: "The paper is a US-scale analysis of the positive effects of wetlands on water quality, and the potential for using wetland restoration as a key strategy for improving water quality, particularly in the Mississippi River Basin/Gulf of Mexico. The work is particularly relevant in the light of the Trump administration’s rewrite of the “Waters of the U.S.” rule, which has narrowed the federal government’s ability to protect wetlands."
