Two graduate students in the Department of Anthropology received NSF Dissertation Improvement Grants. Daniele Riebe, who works in Eastern Europe, and Matt Piscatelli, who works in South America, were awarded the grants late in December.

The NSF awards approximately 40 grants each year making UIC the recipient of about 5% of the total archaeology recipients.

Since 2004, 11 graduate students in the Department of Anthropology have received NSF funding.
