PolSci Professor Dick Simpson Interviewed by the Chicago Sun-Times on Cook County Patronage Hiring Allegations

Dick Simpson, UIC professor of political science, is interviewed in a Chicago Sun-Times story about allegations of patronage hiring by Cook County Clerk Karen Yarbrough. “Usually, patronage hiring is a symptom of machine politics influencing activities in the office,” he said. “It’s usually sort of the tip of the iceberg that suggests that corruption will be part of any particular office, and for that to be true of the clerk’s office, which has been a beacon of good government under [former clerk] David Orr, is, I think, a real problem.” http://bit.ly/31rVfUn
