Major in Computer Science and Linguistics

Work with the two best things in the world: programming and talking about programming.

Except for the fact that one area examines languages like Spanish and English and the other Java and Python, the subjects of linguistics and computer science are very similar.  Perhaps not twins, but definitely cousins.

You will learn a lot about computers and how people interact with them if you choose this fantastic degree as your academic focus. You will gain an understanding of programming and logical reasoning, as well as the meaning of error messages in software and how to interact effectively with people whose first language is not English. This could be a fantastic major for you if you have an interest in finding solutions to problems, providing and receiving feedback, figuring out how to fix problems with computers, and learning new languages.

Graduates with a major in Computer Science and Linguistics typically combine their knowledge of computer science and linguistics to pursue careers in natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, computational linguistics, or speech recognition. They may work in industries such as technology, finance, healthcare, or government, or in research and development at universities or private companies.
