Tracking Tree Health During Chicago’s Heat Wave

During Chicago’s recent heat wave, UIC researchers studied tree health and canopy coverage in South Side neighborhoods to better understand their impact on community well-being.

Led by Miquel Gonzalez-Meler (Biological Sciences and Earth & Environmental Sciences), the team is tracking heat impacts and tree health to explore how nature-based solutions can help cool neighborhoods and improve environmental conditions. 🌱
