Study by Economics Professor Steven Rivkin Featured in U.S. News & World Report Story

A study by Steven Rivkin, UIC professor and head of the Department of Economics, was featured in a U.S. News & World Report story entitled “Fewer Black-White Interactions, but Schools Aren't Resegregating.” The article discusses how, though measurable black and white student interactions have decreased since 1980, there is no evidence that any resegregation efforts are to blame.

" ‘We have to be careful when we talk about resegregation,’ [Rivkin] says. ‘We can't just say the white share is declining in schools. That's simplistic and inaccurate.’ “
