Strike a Loss for Emanuel
Dick Simpson, a professor in the political science department, was interviewed by Reuters regarding Mayor Emanuel's handling of the Chicago Teachers Union strike.
According to Simpson, Emanuel's reputation as "a chief executive who can get things done", was damaged by the CTU strike. Instead of striking a deal, the mayor engaged in numerous personal confrontations and sought a court injunction against the CTU in an action that has likely alienated him from the entire labor movement.
