Paper Co-Authored by LAS Professor David Stovall Featured in Atlanta Blackstar Article

A paper co-authored by David Stovall, LAS professor in the Department of African American Studies, was cited in a January 11, 2016 Atlanta Blackstar article titled “Hidden Mental Health Issues: The Unique Challenges Black College Students Face.”

In the paper, “Reimagining Critical Race Theory in Education: Mental Health, Healing and the Pathway to Liberatory Praxis,” co-written with Vanderbilt University’s Ebony McGee, “the authors challenge the principle of hard work and perseverance, asserting that mental health issues among Black students are often unnoticed because of the students’ intense academic focus and desire to achieve.”
