New Book and Article Publications from Department of Sociology Faculty
Recently, a number of faculty members in the LAS sociology department have published books and studies. First, Assistant Professor Andy Clarno has published the article, "Securing Oslo: The Dynamics of Security Coordination in the West Bank." The article can be found in Middle East Report 269 (Winter): 34-39.
Stanford University Press published Assistant Professor Paul-Brian McInerney's book From Social Movement to Moral Market: How the Circuit Riders Sparked an IT Revolution and Created a Technology Market.
Pamela Ann Quiroz, professor of sociology and educational policy studies, published three articles recently. First, "From Mail Order and Picture Brides, Lonely Hearts and Social Clubs, to eHarmony, ‘Just Lunch’, Speed Dating, and Coffee Mating: The Evolution of Personal Advertising," was published in Dynamics and Interconnections in Popular Culture by McFarland Press.
"School as Solution to the ‘Problem’ of Urban Place: Children’s Perceptions of Safety, Migration, & Community," co-authored with K. Milam-Brooks and D. Adams-Romena, was published in Childhood: A Journal of Global Child Research.
"Women of Color Participating in Personal Advertising: Dating, Mating and Relating in a ‘Post’ Racist, Sexist, and Modern Society" was published in Notions of Family: Intersectional Perspectives, Advances in Gender Research.
Assistant Professor Amy Bailey made a presentation based on her co-authored manuscript titled LYNCHED: The Victims of Southern Mob Violence at the University of Wisconsin’s Demography Seminar.
A book by Claire Laurier Decoteau, assistant professor in the department, Ancestors and Antiretrovirals: The Biopolitics of HIV/AIDS in Post-Apartheid South Africa (University of Chicago Press), was the focus of an Author Meets Critics Session at the Social Science History Association.
