LAS Professor Joel Brown Speaks at Nature Museum Conference

Professor Joel Brown of the biological sciences department spoke at the recent Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum conference, entitled, "Why Prevent Extinction?" The weekend-long conference featured a number of speakers, each discussing what the event page calls "the deceptively simple question 'Why prevent extinction?'" Professor Brown works as an evolutionary biologist studying how natural selection as an optimization process determines feeding behaviors, population characteristics, and the properties of communities.
