Jennifer Brier Curates ‘Surviving and Thriving’ Travelling Exhibit

The National Library of Medicine’s new travelling exhibition "Surviving and Thriving," curated by Associate Professor of History and Gender and Women’s Studies Jennifer Brier, will begin touring around the United States in October.

According to the exhibition website, “The title "Surviving and Thriving" comes from a book written in 1987 by and for people with AIDS that insisted people could live with AIDS, not just die from it. This exhibition presents their stories alongside those of others involved in the national AIDS crisis. Listen to them and consider the ever-changing relationship between science and society.”

The exhibition uses historic photographs, pamphlets and publications to examine the rise of AIDS in the 1980's and the reaction to the epidemic. Learn more about the "Surviving and Thriving" travelling exhibit.
