HIPS Ph.D. Candidate José Ángel Navejas Addresses the Controversy Surrounding Oprah’s Book Club and its AppleTV+ Program in the Chicago Tribune

A Chicago Tribune Q&A with José Ángel Navejas, a Ph.D. candidate in the Hispanic and Italian studies department at UIC, addresses the controversy surrounding Oprah’s Book Club selection of Jeanine Cummins’ book “American Dirt” and whether Oprah’s related AppleTV  program adequately addressed criticisms of the book and the issue of inclusion in the U.S. publishing industry. He is the author of the 2014 memoir “Illegal: Reflections of an Undocumented Immigrant,” which last year became the first book translated into Spanish by the University of Illinois Press. http://bit.ly/38BaHAj (subscription may be required)
