Head of Black Studies Jane Rhodes Featured Among History Experts in PBS Documentary “Walter Winchell: The Power of Gossip.”

Jane Rhodes, UIC professor and head of Black studies, is among the featured experts and historians interviewed during “Walter Winchell: The Power of Gossip.” Featuring Stanley Tucci as Winchell and narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, the program tells the story of the “media personality who pioneered fast-paced, celebrity-focused and politically charged journalism.” The documentary premieres on PBS (locally on WTTW-TV Channel 11) Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 9 p.m., pbs.org/americanmasters and the PBS Video app.
