Doran Comments on Antarctic Lake Discovery
Peter Doran, professor of earth and environmental sciences, was interviewed for a FOX News story on the Antarctic subglacial freshwater Lake Vostok just reached by a Russian drilling station in Antarctica. The lake is believed to contain water millions of years old, which may be the home of ancient organisms. Because of the arid, chilled environment in which it resides, Doran and other scientists believe this and other Antarctic lakes may be important templates for the search for life forms on Mars.
