Critical Language Scholarship Recipients Announced for 2013 Summer Semester
Three LAS students have been awarded the Critical Languages Scholarship (CLS) by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The award gives students the opportunity to study one of the 13 critical foreign languages in intensive summer programs abroad. This summer Hasan Osamah, biological sciences major and member of the Honors College, will study the Bahasa language in Indonesia. Michelle Lee, majoring in chemistry and a GPPA pharmacy student in the Honors College, won a CLS to fund study of Mandarin in China. Alexander Guevara, a criminology, law and justice major and also a member of the Honors College, will study Arabic in Ibri, Oman with funding from a CLS.
