Join Chicago Humanities at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) for a day of events highlighting movement in its many definitions–from political activism to immigration.

Chicago Humanities will be at UIC on October 5th for a full day of programming featuring Connie Chung, who will discuss her legendary career in broadcast journalism, MacArthur Genius Grant winner Dylan C. Penningroth on the overlooked roots of the Black Civil Rights Movement, best-selling author Max Boot to review his latest book on Ronald Reagan, and historian David Greenberg who will discuss John Lewis’ incredible life of political organizing.

We’ll also hear from one of Chicago’s most beloved authors Erik Larson on his newest book illuminating the Civil War, multimedia artist Anna Marie Tendler on the pressures women face in the 21st century, and Pulitzer Prize winner Richard Powers in conversation with Rebecca Makkai.

In the afternoon, check out our two panel discussions focused on movement and migration: Revolutionary Movements of Hope or Despair? and Seeds in a Suitcase: Growing Place within Chicago Gardens.
