Major in Chemistry

Discover how the smallest molecules of life work together to create everything we see, use, and love.

Chemistry’s potential makes it cool. Learn to invent new medicines, materials, and more.

If you major in chemistry, you will learn how to employ chemicals to address real-world issues. With a solid scientific basis, you can identify innovative solutions to global issues such as pollution and disease. A chemistry major will also prepare you for occupations outside of science, such as business administration, finance, and law, making it an excellent option for those who wish to apply their talents outside of traditional labs and classrooms.  If you are a critical thinker, love discovering answers to problems, and want to make a big contribution while performing meaningful work, chemistry may be the appropriate field for you.

A major in chemistry can lead to employment in fields such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, environmental science, materials science, forensic science, and quality control. Some graduates also go on to work in research and development, either in the public or private sector. The analytical and problem-solving skills gained through a chemistry major are also highly valued in fields such as finance, law, and management.
