Ifatunji Awarded David P. Street Memorial Dissertation Prize

This spring, Mosi Ifatunji, a PhD alumnus of the sociology department, was awarded the David P. Street Memorial Dissertation Prize.

The David P. Street Memorial Fund was established in memory of its former head to recognize graduate student excellence in the application of sociological knowledge to the solution of social problems. The fund establishes the David P. Street Dissertation Prize of $500. This prize is awarded every third year to the UIC Sociology student who submitted the most outstanding PhD dissertation in applied sociology during the three years since the last award. The fund also establishes the David P. Street Research Award of $100, presented each year to the student submitting the best MA research paper. The fund is administered by the University of Illinois Foundation, and awards are judged by a panel of five of David Street's former colleagues in the Chicago area.
