Guggenheim Honored With Society Award

Stephen Guggenheim, a professor in the earth and environmental sciences department, was awarded the Marilyn and Sturges W. Bailey Distinguished Member Award of The Clay Minerals Society for "scientific eminence as represented by publication of outstanding original research in clay science."

Professor Guggenheim will be recognized for his contributions in the structural studies of phyllosilicates, in the areas of dehydration and dehydroxylation reactions, organo-clay interactions, and clay methane hydrate intercalates.  The award will be presented to Professor Guggenheim at the 50th Annual Meeting of The Clay Minerals Society after his plenary lecture to the group.
