Gayatri has received both the American Institute of India Studies (AIIS) Senior Fellowship as well as the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research Grant for her new project 'The Karma of Black Folk: Siddis' and the 'Meanings of 'Race' and Masculinity in Hyderabad.’
