African-American Studies Student Zakkiyyah Najeebah Recognized for Artistry
Zakkiyyah Najeebah, a student studying art history and black studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), is recognized at "First Saturdays with Mana", an event which highlights Chicago based artists. Najeebah's photography will be featured, where she utilizes photography to address the politics and aesthetic values of representation, inclusivity, black womanhood, family histories, and collective narratives.
