UIC Double Degree (Non-LAS Students)

This application is for non-LAS students only. LAS students wishing to apply for double LAS degrees, please visit the department offering the second degree. Do not use this form.

A student may receive two degrees concurrently from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS). The student must complete 30 semester hours of credit at UIC beyond the requirements for the first degree in courses not offered for the first degree. In addition, the student must complete all degree requirements of the College and the major department. For specific information on these requirements, consult the department listings in the catalog.

Please note: Double degrees will not be approved if the first degree and the proposed second degree involve study of a similar area or substantial duplication of course work.

Minimum Requirements for Double Degrees Admission

LAS welcomes interest from students currently enrolled at UIC who wish to complete double degrees.  Students must be in good academic standing with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.00 (4.00 scale). Students must complete at least one semester of coursework at UIC.

All transfer coursework (even if previously reviewed by another UIC College) will be reviewed by LAS in order to have credit applied toward an LAS degree.

Application Timeline

All non-LAS students must submit a double degree application to be initially reviewed by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Applicants meeting the minimum requirements will be notified of their status via email; this is not an approval of admission. Applicants will be given further instructions to finalize the process. This includes: prior approval from current (primary) UIC College and an advising appointment with an LAS departmental academic advisor to declare desired major.
